Cover Story
Living Life
Brenda Russell on Diabetes “Despite diabetes, you can live a full and productive life,” says Brenda Russell, renowned songwriter and composer.

This philosophy clearly works for the three-time Grammy Award winner, because she has not missed a beat, literally, since being diagnosed with diabetes. While working on the musical stage version of Alice Walker’s The Color Purple, Brenda became ill. She was diagnosed with vertigo, given some medicine, and sent back to work. Luckily, a friend noticed that she was still very ill and insisted that she see another doctor.

‘T is the season to be jolly or is it?
‘T is the season to be jolly or is it? For many, the season produces anguish and distress. How do we to handle this?
The holiday (Christmas) season is a time of hyper emotionality. All feelings are intensified starting with Thanksgiving and lasting through the New Year. A flurry of social get-togethers, family reunions, giving and receiving presents make for emotional intensity.

Happy Holidays Hic!
Happy Holidays This title is not Latin, but rather English spoken by an inebriated person. He/she does not come from a foreign land, but from wherever he/she has consumed too much alcohol. The laws of the various states are fairly consistent: they consider a blood alcohol level of 0.08-0.1 and above as being too high...

Always tired? Maybe you are depressed
Always tired? Maybe you are depressed For some time now I have experienced constant fatigue. It seems that no matter now much sleep I get, I still feel tired. My doctor ran tests for anemia and thyroid problems and told me everything is normal. However, I still feel sluggish and lack energy.
What else could be wrong?

Healthful Teas and Festive Drinks
Festive Drinks I dusted off some of my older cookbooks and selected some tasty, yet healthful recipes for teas and holiday drinks. Some of these teas contain ingredients that provide relaxation, which most of us can use during the busy holiday season. The drinks that I chose simply add tradition and a little spark to our celebrations...

Enjoy a cup of Tea and Relax
Enjoy a cup of Tea and Relax No longer an ancient Chinese secret, tea is now known to have many therapeutic and healthful benefits. Tea is the second most popular beverage (next to water) around the world.
Tea is not just for two anymore, as it is an extremely popular beverage. The British consume their fair share, for sure, but many other countries equally enjoy tea in impressive numbers, including China, India, and other Asian countries.

Patient Rights
Paging Dr ? Paging Dr ...
Paging Dr Around the country, doctors are limiting their practices due to rising medical liability insurance rates. In some states, physicians simply close their practices and move to a more insurance friendly state, or choose to retire, or transition to a non-clinical environment. As a result, more and more patients have to travel further for needed medical care.

New Advances in the fight against Cervical Disease
Who would imagine that a virus was the cause of certain types of cancer? It’s beyond conjecture now because research has shown that the connection is definite. Human papilloma virus, or HPV for short, has been identified as the major player in cervical cancer, and women all over the world can benefit from new knowledge about this most common sexually transmitted disease...

Understanding ...your pain can help you treat it
Understanding ...your pain can help you treat it Myofascial pain (MFP) is a very common problem that may affect each of us to some degree at certain times. How it starts, and why it can continue indefinitely is not understood. However, a comprehensive rehabilitation program seems to be the key for success in treating this often-misunderstood condition...

Life Lessons from Patti Davis
Life Lessons from Patti Davis “We love them so unconditionally, and our hearts hurt so much when they’re gone,’ says Patti Davis. “I think there’s this sort of subconscious attempt to avoid hurting that much again by avoiding loving that much again.”
She talks as eloquently as she writes. Patti Davis, 53, has written six books, her last was the emotionally riveting and critically acclaimed “The Long Goodbye,” a memoir of her late dad President Ronald Reagan.

Journey to Good Health... The Positive Effects of Travel
The Positive Effects of Travel The word “vacation” makes most of us think happy thoughts. And that’s not surprising, since travel releases us from the pressures and schedules of everyday life. When we asked veteran travelers how vacations influence their physical and psychological health, their responses were as varied and engaging as the diversity of trips they have taken.

Lifting the veil from Plastic Surgery
Lifting the veil from Plastic Surgery Correction can improve self-esteem and self-confidence. Thus, you can not only look better, but feel better as well.
Most people agree that what is on the inside is most important, but the outside can effect how you feel about yourself as well. An unwanted feature or appearance can make you self-conscious and less confident. That is what plastic surgery is all about, not vain, narcissistic people. It is about ordinary people with problems. Chiropractic
Chiropractic Care & Your Mental Health
Chiropractic Care Eleanor is a forty-six year-old mother of two. Recently, she has noticed she isn’t quite herself. Her mood seems to fluctuate. She finds she is easily irritated and short on patience at work and at home. Her children have noticed the change in her as well. When they ask if everything is okay, she flatly says, “Yes,” instead of her usually vibrant responses. Eleanor also finds herself fussing with her spouse more without real reason... Amie Bailey
