I have been reading exciting news lately about printed magazines being alive and well. The message is a welcome relief from the hype that wants us to think otherwise. I am continually amazed that it is our own media that touts that message the loudest…sort of like shooting oneself in the foot…so to speak. But, back to my opening statement…more headlines are now shouting that magazines are emerging from the economic crisis that took its toll on many mags, and not only are they emerging, but many new ones are being launched. Of course, there are a myriad of digital media, and they each play a significant role. Those in the publishing industry would be foolish to ignore their presence and not accept them into their magazine genre, however, when all is said and done there is nothing that can compare with curling up on the couch, with a warm cup of coffee, and leafing through a favorite mag. IPADS, scrolling, clicking, and re-clicking just can’t compare. The printed word is not DEAD!
