I lost my mother recently after several years of caring for her, or at least overseeing her care, and the last nine months of living with her, waking up every morning , opening her curtains, and saying “Good morning, beautiful!” Every time I’d come back at night, I’d kiss her on the forehead, and she’d say where have you been? “Work,” I answered. She’d look perplexed. “Somebody has to work around here,” I’d joke with her. She’d always laugh.
But the one refrain that came again and again whenever I came into her room to see her (she was bedridden) was, “Your teeth are so beautiful.” Now, imagine of all the things a mother could say, that’s what she focused on day after day. I started looking at other people’s teeth, and thought maybe she was right. All those braces and retainers, and six-month trips to the dentist that I dreaded, but which were always followed by a trip to the highly-sugared McDonald’s as a reward, created what she called those “beautiful teeth.”
At Radius, our purpose is to promote the best health for you and your loved ones. Just this morning I received a voicemail from my dentist that I was overdue for a tooth-cleaning. Without Mama in charge I wasn’t paying attention to my teeth. Grandma had false teeth. We’ve come a long way from there. Be sure to get your six-month check-ups for each member of your family. Especially, your children as their teeth are developing delicately. I guess my Mother would say the goal is to have my teeth, not Grandma’s. We’ve got the technology; we just have to be diligent about using it.

Good Advice Jane Allison. Isn't it clever how our moms manage to still speak with us...even when they are not present in body? Moms are God's gift to all of us.
